Vintage is more than a color option. I start with a Border Tooled pattern reminiscent of the past, and add antigue colors and blemishes. The aged Patina appearance is painstakingly achieved by hand to give the appearance of 50 years of use.
I developed this finish after my Father left me his 1960’s era Model 19 Smith. This was the gun he carried on every deer hunt, fishing trip or hike in the woods. It was the gun I learned to shoot with and the many memories that come with this particular piece tell the story of his life and mine. At least much of it.
The origional holster that he built for it was in need of replacement but when I slipped it into a bright new holster, it just seemed out of place with the history of this special gun. After a great deal of trial and error, experimenting, and head scratching, I came up with the holster you see here. For me, it was a fitting representation to carry this historical piece.
After completion, it occured to me that there are millions of historical revolvers out there that each carry their own story. Every nick, scratch and worn spot in the finish carries a memory for their owners.
